Macarthur Rams - Sydney Uni 3-0
-
19:30, Lørdag 7 April, Lynwood Park.
-

The Macarthur Rams hosted title front runners, Sydney University, on a turbulent Saturday Night at Lynwood Park. The students came into the match on the back of an unprecedented 5 match winning streak and were confident they could get a result against the 2nd place Rams.
However, Macurther had other ideas and started the game strongly, grabbing the lead in the 8th minute.

Uni fought back well, and had Macurther on the rack for the majority of the first half. In fact, Uni were terribly unlucky not to score after a goal box scrap in which the ball was saved or cleared off the line no less than 3 times.
Not long after,Gavaghan broke down the right hand side sending a cross over for Demetriou whose header was saved by the keeper.

A clear handball decision in the Macurther box was also turned down by the referee despite the appeals of the Uni players.
Wiblen also had a long shot narrowly miss and it was beginning to seem that it just wasn't "the students'" day.
Macarthur limped to a one-nil half time lead with some of the players feeling the heat after some relentless Uni attacks.

In the second half, Uni started strongly again with Demetriou and O' O' O' O'Brien giving plenty of options for attack out wide.
Big Bob was brought on as a target man and was unlucky not to have earned a penalty after a clear shove in the back was turned down.
Still Uni could not break the deadlock, with Gavaghan again going close after another OBrien cross.

Macurther then doubled their lead when Uni lost the ball cheaply in their own half and the finish left no chance for the advancing Box Head (Anthony Costa).

With minutes remaining, and Uni pushing forward in an effort to salvage a result, Macarthur hit again on the counter attack and their player was brought down in the box. They converted the penalty to complete a three-nil win.
